Though suffering is the primary subject Peter is dealing with he touches on a couple of important ideas that relate to this difficult issue. He begins by making Jesus the standard of the faith and that we must arm ourselves with the same mind that defined Jesus. We are to die to sin in a similar manner as Jesus died for sin.
